With the constant need to stay up to speed with the latest techniques and train new members, Burlington Fire Department is taking advantage of the empty buildings of HULA (formally Blodgett Ovens) over the next 4 weeks all BFD shifts will train on search and rescue, rope training, ladder placement and extending hose lines through the building. New recruits will train with their new ladder trucks and practice extending the ladders to the roofs. Next week, they will be practicing cutting vent holes through a roof that is scheduled to be demolished.
After demo this project will create housing of 76 units, as part of the larger Cambrian Rise development. The building consists of 1 level of concrete and steel framing for a parking garage, and 4 stories of panelized wood framing above. Featuring spectacular views of Lake Champlain, this project is the first of many on the site.
