The new air handling unit provides increased capacity and now supports additional load previously served by air handlers S5 and S7. Due to significant unknowns in the existing ductwork, the project required extensive design-build coordination to adapt the new system to existing conditions, determining how to temporarily relocate or maintain operations during construction to minimize impacts on critical functioning spaces and was essential to keeping the facility operational throughout the project. This was a highly technical project that demanded a deep working knowledge of specialized MEP systems.
