This four-story Italianate brick mixed-use building built in 1869 had fallen into disrepair in recent years. Having been partially demolished, Springfield Housing Authority partnered with Evernorth to renovate the space into 15 rental apartments, four single-room occupancies for homeless and at-risk youth, and four commercial storefronts to revitalize the downtown Springfield, VT community. A big objective was to stabilize the ledge underneath the building, which was done by drilling into the ledge and using a combination of anchors and epoxy to hold everything together.
