The Rutland Regional Medical Center East Dorset MOB project was completed in multiple phases to ensure uninterrupted operations during construction. Temporary services were implemented to maintain essential functions throughout the project.

To improve energy efficiency, highly efficient mechanical and electrical systems were installed. Rutland Regional Medical Center occupied approximately half of the existing footprint of the MOB, utilizing the entire building space, which amounted to around 6,800 square feet. The medical center’s services were distributed across both the upstairs and downstairs areas of the facility.

As the Construction Manager, we successfully coordinated the construction process, working closely with the architect, Lavallee Brensinger Architects, and the owner, Rutland Regional Medical Center. The collaborative effort ensured a smooth execution of the project, meeting the medical center’s requirements and enhancing the functionality of the East Dorset MOB.

In 2009, we initiated the construction of the New Utility Plant Expansion, a 1,500 SF facility located adjacent to the existing utility room on the east side of the hospital, between the hospital and the health center office building. This expansion aimed to replace the hospital’s outdated boilers with two new, more energy-efficient 300-horsepower boilers, resulting in reduced operating costs. Throughout the construction process, the hospital’s services and programs continued without any disruption.

The design of the facility incorporates a combination of glazing systems and is enhanced with an insulated metal panel skin, providing an attractive and functional appearance. Additionally, the project allowed Copley Hospital to enhance the service entry’s aesthetics and improve insulation along the south side of the health center building’s perimeter.

This project consisted of a new 6,500 SF community center with offices, a stage, a theater hall, a commercial kitchen, and a library. The owner supplied lumber harvested from their land for all siding and interior trims. Design/build MEP.”

Our team successfully executed the design/build MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) aspects of the project, ensuring seamless integration and optimal functionality.

As a result of our collaborative efforts, the Woodstock Inn now boasts a truly grand entrance that exudes elegance and charm, solidifying its position as one of the most picturesque inns in New England. The St. Johnsbury Buick GMC Renovations project encompassed a combination of renovations and three separate additions, totaling 5,200 square feet, to the existing building. With a focus on maintaining uninterrupted business operations, the project was divided into four distinct phases.

The scope of work involved various areas, including the installation of a new service drive, parts storage, washroom, tool room, waiting area, and service department. Additionally, exterior improvements were made, and renovations were carried out in the showroom and administration areas. The successful execution of this project relied heavily on collaboration and effective communication among all stakeholders.

Known as the St. Johnsbury Buick GMC Renovations, the project was undertaken for the owner, St. Johnsbury Automotive. EH Danson served as the architect, providing their expertise in the design process, while our company assumed the role of the construction manager, ensuring the project’s smooth progression and ultimate success for all parties involved.

The project encompassed the construction of a versatile 70,000-square-foot building that served as a multi-purpose facility, featuring classrooms, offices, meeting and event spaces, a cafe, a kitchen, and interior and exterior dining areas. The campus’ geothermal system played a significant role in heating and cooling the building. The project adhered to Green Globe Guidelines and obtained Green Globes certification, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable practices.

The Communications & Creative Media Center was honored with a Vermont Public Places Award, a recognition program that celebrates outstanding public spaces and the positive contributions they make to the community. This esteemed award acknowledges the Center’s role as a special public space and the result of meticulous planning and design that enhances its functionality and benefits for the public.

Overall, the project successfully delivered a state-of-the-art facility, aligning with sustainable principles and receiving recognition for its contribution to the public realm.

The H.P. Cummings team, in collaboration with Robins & Morton, formed a Joint Venture to deliver construction management services for the MaineGeneral Health – Center for Health project. This state-of-the-art facility serves as a replacement for MaineGeneral’s Augusta and Waterville campuses. SMRT and TRO architects lent their expertise to the architectural design of the center, which is located in Augusta, Maine.

Adopting an Integrated Project Delivery approach, our team successfully completed the project, resulting in the doors of the facility opening an impressive seven months ahead of the original schedule. This achievement showcases our commitment to efficient project management and timely delivery.

We are thrilled to announce that the MaineGeneral Health – Center for Health has received LEED Gold certification, affirming its commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly design and construction practices. This recognition underscores our dedication to creating buildings that prioritize energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and occupant well-being.

The scope of work included new office spaces, bathrooms, IT rooms, conference rooms, and seamlessly integrating the two buildings. Notably, a new geothermal mechanical design was implemented to enhance energy efficiency. The construction was completed within 11 months, using a phased approach to keep the building occupied during the process. Vermont Information Processing served as the owner, Colin Lidberg as the architect, and HP Cummings Construction Company as the construction manager.

The project encompassed a comprehensive transformation, featuring an expansive open office area and a connecting link to a neighboring office building. The renovation included the creation of new office spaces, modernized bathrooms, advanced IT rooms, and well-equipped conference rooms, seamlessly integrating the two interconnected structures. A remarkable geothermal mechanical design was implemented to enhance energy efficiency. Despite the challenges, the construction was efficiently completed within 11 months, using a phased approach to ensure the building remained occupied. The Kelley’s Field Apartments project involved the renovation of two buildings, owned by Cathedral Square Corporation and Evernorth (formerly Housing Vermont), which comprised 24 units of elderly housing. This initiative aimed to enhance the living conditions for the residents while implementing sustainable and energy-efficient practices. Throughout the project, great care was taken to ensure minimal disruption to the residents, as the buildings remained occupied during the renovation process.

The scope of work encompassed multiple aspects, including site paving, energy improvements, and general repairs. Various measures were implemented to enhance energy efficiency, such as installing new windows, doors, roofing, insulation, boilers, ventilation systems, and electrical enhancements. These upgrades were carefully coordinated among the project team, which included HP Cummings Construction, the owner, the architect, engineers, and a weatherization contractor. The project aimed to create a more sustainable and energy-efficient housing facility by working collaboratively.

In pursuit of sustainability goals, a weatherization contractor was specifically engaged by the owners to optimize the energy performance of the buildings. This collaboration resulted in the implementation of weatherization measures that further improved energy efficiency, contributing to long-term cost savings and reduced environmental impact.

A crucial aspect of the project involved meticulously coordinating the relocation of tenants during the renovation of their respective apartments. This careful planning and execution ensured that the residents’ comfort and well-being were prioritized throughout the construction process.

By combining the efforts of HP Cummings Construction, Cathedral Square Corporation, Evernorth, and the weatherization contractor, the Kelley’s Field Apartments project successfully transformed the elderly housing units. The incorporation of sustainable and energy-efficient features not only enhanced the living conditions for the residents but also aligned with the broader mission of creating environmentally conscious and resilient communities.

The concept behind the building’s design was to create a village center that features both private and semi-private rooms, fostering a sense of community through dedicated living areas.
